My name is Amy Harrod, and I am a proud Chemistry I teacher at Bullitt East High School. This will be my 21st year of teaching, as well as my 21st year at Bullitt East. In keeping with our "Tradition Unrivaled," I have found a home at BE and look forward to welcoming a new group of students as my own each year. In my time here, I have taught a variety of classes including Chemistry I, Pre-AP/Honors Chemistry I, AP Chemistry II, Integrated Science, Crime Scene Science, Advanced Wellness, and ACT Prep Science. It has been an honor to be able to serve the Mount Washington community, and I look forward to many years of working with the people who make it great.
Although I have found a home in this area, I am originally from Independence, KY, which is located about 10 miles south of Covington. I graduated from Simon Kenton High School in 1998 and then went on to pursue my post-secondary education at the University of Louisville I have a B.S. in Chemistry with a concentration in Biochemistry and a Masters of Arts in Teaching Secondary Education, both from U of L.
In addition to my role as an educator, I also put on the hats of "mother" and "wife." I have been married to Jason Harrod for 20 years, and we live in Bardstown with our three sons, Andrew (18), Jack (15), and Owen (12). As a parent, I understand the difficulties and anxieties that come with a new school year, new faces, new classes, and new expectations. It is for this reason that I want to make myself available for communication with my students and parents as much as possible. On the contact page, you will find my class schedule, including my available planning period, my Twitter username that I use specifically for student/parent communication, and my Remind 101 number to text if you wish to receive homework, assignment, quiz, or test reminders. You can also contact me with the direct link to my email address on my Home page.
Thank you for the opportunity to work with your student. There is no other career I would choose over that of an educator, and as a team, I am certain we can achieve the success that your student deserves.
